Winter is coming and the targeted destination for most travellers are cities in the northern area of Thailand in order to experience cold weather during winter period. Certainly, famous destinations for all tourists are Chaing Mai, Chaing Rai and Mae Hong Son for instance especially Pai District in Mae Hong Son and those provinces are very busy during winter vacation period.
Therefore, if you plan to find new place with beautiful scenery of mountain view, i have one province in the northern area of Thailand to recommend to you and the place is “Nan” province.
This province situated in the eartern of Chiang Mai province near Laos border. In general, Nan has many interesting place to discover including both natural sites and historical sites.
Today, i will recommend to you ”Khun Nan National Park” one of famous travel sites that you can’t miss when visiting this province.
This National Park locateed in Bo Klaue district 110 kilometers from Nan town center (Muang District). The geography of this site generally cover with moutain and river as highest point of this national park is called ”Doi Phi Pan Nam” 1,745 meters above the sea level.
The highlight for this Khun Nan National Park is 25 Kilometers dramatic secenery of the Wa Rive generating many beautiful waterfall including Sapan, Huay Ha and Huay Tee waterfall.
The first waterfall is called Sapan Waterfall, Sapan Waterfall is biggest and the most outstanding waterfall and it is very easy for tourists to see this waterfall as it located 10 kilometers from thetown center Ba Klaue. After driving 10 kilometers, you need to walk for approxiemately 800 meters and then you will reach this fantastic waterfall. Moreover, 1 kilometer from Sapan waterfall, Ban Den waterfall is waiting for you to discover.
The second site is Huay Tee Waterfall, this waterfall has been divided in 6 tiers situated in the abundant rainforest of Khun Nan National Park. Even though, it has 6 tiers but the most fantastic tier that you can’t miss when visit this waterfall is in the third tier.
Sapan, Ban Den and Huay Tee Waterfall are only the instance of gorgeous spots in Khun Nan National Park area. Therefore, if you have plenty of time, the viewpoint at “Doi Phi Pan Nam” which is the summit point of this national park is the place the i recommed as you will discover gorgeous scenery of the Wa River. Because of its beautiful natural scenery, this national park is highly recommended especially for travellers who really want to avoid riot during winter and new year holiday season.

- From Nan Town Center, driving from highway number 1169 and follow the sigh post to Bo Klaue district as the distance from town center to Bo Klaue is around 108 kilometers.
- Then, from Bo Klaue, driving to highway number 1081 (the route of Bo Klaue to Chaloem Phrakiat) and you will reach the National Park Headquarter.
